标题: 2015年广外外应(英语写作与翻译)考研真题回忆
I. Summary    1x40
    主要讲Unsustainable tourism带来的社会和生态问题,中间插了一些作者和其他人的观点,共530多字,要求压缩到120-150字。对Tourism不良现象的描写用了很多的写实的语句,处理起来非常麻烦。文末还有一个人的观点,一整段都是他的观点,有4个点,概括起来也很考人。难度中高。

II. Writing     1x60
    "Genius without education is like silver in the mine"这句话,(1)释义,(2)你是否赞同这个观点,(3)叙述你的理由,(4)文章要起个题目。写450字左右,难度低。

III. E-C Translation    1x25
    材料选自一个新闻的最后三分之一: Bush, Blair targeted for mangling English (November 15 2004)
    这个材料的翻译难点在那2个用错的词:"pertannually"和"insubdurience"。整体难度中等。
    Blair, too, is singled out as a king of language corruption.Humphrys notes Blair's apparent fear of verbs and mocks his speeches, which are peppered with verbless phrases like "new challenges, new ideas," or "for our young people, a brighter future" and "the age of achievement, at home and abroad".By using this technique, Humphrys says, Blair is simply evading responsibility.     "The point about verbs is that they commit the speaker," he writes. "Verbs cement sentences to their meaning so it's not surprising that politicians tend to mistrust them."
    Humphrys also blames institutions like the European Union and the world's media for the decline in standards of English. He laments the inclusion of such words as "pertannually" in the proposed EU constitution - and despairs that when concerns were raised, the word was replaced with "insubdurience".
    He urges the public, and journalists in particular, to reject meaningless phrases and to demand they are explained. "When you get enough people pointing it out, the public starts to spot what is going on," he says. "That's why the battle has to be fought."
    "We should expect - and should demand - that when people are setting out policies or trying to persuade us of something, they engage in proper debate and don't simply give us a set of unchallengeable propositions."

    材料选自梁实秋:《略谈英文文法》,跟专八的选题和翻译思路一致,难度中低
    语言是活的,随时在变,字义以及句法等等都在变。我们现代所认为不合文法的词句,往往正是二三百年前大家通用的英文。不用说二三百年,三五十年间就可能有显著的变化。所以“标准的英文”是很难讲的。每一时代有其不同的标准,拿五十年前甚至一百年前的文法书来衡量现代的英文,实在是自寻烦恼的事。
    国人学习英文,喜欢从文法下手,以为一旦文法通晓,英文即可豁然贯通。这当然不是没有理由。不过这是一个旧法子,较新的法子是不不从死板的抽象的文法理论下手,而去直接的学习那活的语言方式。我们儿时学语,何尝理会什么文法,一年半载的工夫我们就会说话了。学习外国语,当然比较难得多,但是道理还是一样。合理的学习语言的方法,那是自然的学习方法。
